Defense against a pursuit punch

Inside version

[Video of this waza fast and slow, from the side, and ideally, overhead]

• Twist inside, with an inside elbow break.
• Grab the opponent’s wrist with the outside hand.
• Execute a makkikomi-shutō to the floating ribs with your inside hand.
• Inside arm lever the opponent down into a knee kick to the solar plexus.
• Enter a horse stance with a downward elbow strike to the upper spine or the back of the neck.

Outside version

• Twist outside, with an outside elbow break.
• Execute a makkikomi-shutō to the floating ribs with your inside hand.
• Grab the opponent’s wrist with the outside hand and outside arm lever the opponent down into a knee kick to the solar plexus.
• Enter a horse stance with a downward elbow strike to the upper spine or the back of the neck.
