Defense against a pursuit punch or haymaker
- 7-3 inside. Immediately twist inside and pulling your rear leg up into a side-facing hook stance with a backfist strike to the opponent’s philtrum, as an atemi.
- This is a “pivot-in backfist.”
- A pivot-out backfist used the same directions, just replace “inside” with “outside.”
- Please note that a pivot-out backfist is not appropriate against a haymaker; you’ll literally walk right into it.
- Side kick to the solar plexus, abdomen, or floating ribs.
