*Inside 7-3, with a cross-body block.

*Execute an inside elbow strike with your opposite-side hand, as an atemi.

*Reverse punch to abdomen, as both an atemi and a kuzushi.
*Immediately follow-up with a simultaneous (Kūsankū) same-side grasping block to the wrist, and an opposite-side makikomi-shutō to the opponent’s throat.

*Hook your same-side hand behind the opponent’s head, pulling it into an inside elbow strike.  
*Grasp the back of the opponent’s head, and perform a neck circle takedown.

Defense against a pursuit punch

  • 7-3 inside with a cross-body block.
  • Reverse punch to abdomen, as both an atemi and a kuzushi.
  • Hook your same-side hand behind the opponent’s head, pulling it into an inside elbow strike.
  • Hook your same-side hand behind the opponent’s head and press your same-side shoulder against the opponent’s wrist for an inside arm lever.
  • Finish the opponent with a downward elbow strike to the spine.
