Defense against a double lapel grab
- Step back into cat stance to pull the opponent slightly forward, compromising their balance.
- Front kick to the opponent's groin, as an atemi.
- Smash the opponent's wrists together with a double ude uke. This prompts the opponent to spread their arms hands apart to reassert control. Do not resist; immediately reverse direction and knock their arms aside with a double cross-body block.
- Step forward and wrap your hands around the opponent’s neck, pulling them down into a knee kick to the chin.
- Intermediate students and advanced students can include a bonus double tate-shutō strikes to both sides of their neck as you reach in for the neck grab.
